Part I: Card Game Cheating · Prepared Cards
Stripper Decks
How it works
A stripper deck has some cards trimmed, so those cards can be felt or drawn out of the pack by touch. The backs look ordinary. The difference is in the edge, not in a mark. This is not cut-out work, which scrapes the printed back so a white spot shows. A stripper card is a card of a different width or a different shape.

On the record
John Nevil Maskelyne describes convex and concave strippers in Sharps and Flats (1894). This entry uses that book. No modern casino conviction is attached to it.
