Craps Numbers

The numbers 2, 3, and 12, which are the losing outcomes for pass line bets on the come-out roll. These numbers are called “craps” when rolled on the come-out, causing pass line bets to lose immediately. The number 12 (boxcars or midnight) is particularly significant because on most don’t pass line bets, the 12 is a push (barred) rather than a win, which preserves the house edge on the don’t pass side. The craps numbers are the opposite of the “naturals” (7 and 11), which are winning rolls on the come-out for pass line bets.
