TITO Systems

A barcode ticket is the scannable component of a TITO voucher that contains encoded data readable by barcode scanners in gaming machines, bill validators, and redemption terminals. The barcode uses industry-standard symbology (typically Code 128 or similar) to encode the ticket’s unique validation number and other essential data. Barcode scanning technology enables machines to instantly read ticket values for acceptance and the TITO server to validate tickets against its database before processing. The barcode is the primary security feature — duplicate barcodes are rejected by the system, and invalid or expired barcodes trigger alerts. Physical damage to the barcode that prevents scanning may require manual entry or supervisor intervention.

In practice

Modern TITO systems use encrypted barcode data that cannot be forged or duplicated. Some systems print a human-readable validation number below the barcode for manual verification.
