44. Validation Number

TITO Systems

A validation number is the unique alphanumeric identifier assigned to each TITO ticket voucher at the time of printing, encoded in the barcode and printed in human-readable form on the ticket. The validation number serves as the ticket’s “serial number” and is used by the central TITO server to track the ticket’s status throughout its lifecycle — from issuance through redemption or expiration. When a ticket is presented for redemption, the validation number is checked against the server database to confirm the ticket is valid, has not been previously redeemed, and has not expired. The validation number system prevents duplicate redemption, fraud, and counterfeiting.

In practice

Validation numbers are generated using secure algorithms that prevent prediction or duplication. Each validation number is a one-time-use identifier that is retired after redemption.
