43. Ticket Printer

TITO Systems

A ticket printer is the thermal printing device installed inside each TITO-enabled gaming machine that produces ticket vouchers when a player cashes out or wins a jackpot that requires a hand pay. Modern ticket printers (such as JCM Global’s GEN5) use thermal printing technology to produce durable, fade-resistant tickets with barcodes, graphics, and text. The printer communicates with the machine’s game board and the TITO server to ensure accurate ticket issuance and to record each transaction in the central database. Printer status (paper low, jam, ticket printed) is monitored by the slot monitoring system and alerted to slot attendants for maintenance.

In practice

Ticket printer reliability is critical to TITO operations. A printer failure typically causes the machine to lock up until serviced. Modern printers can produce promotional tickets, coupons, and tax forms in addition to standard TITO vouchers.
