65. Reconciliation
Count Processes
Reconciliation in casino count operations is the process of verifying that all financial records from the gaming floor match the actual amounts counted in the count room. This includes comparing the total drop count to the sum of all table inventory changes, fill slips, credit slips, and theoretical win calculations. Reconciliation also encompasses verifying that the number of drop boxes counted matches the number collected from the gaming floor, that all fill and credit slips are accounted for, and that slot meter readings align with counted amounts. Discrepancies identified during reconciliation must be investigated and resolved, with any unresolved differences documented on variance reports. Daily reconciliation is a fundamental internal control for ensuring the integrity of gaming revenue reporting.
In practice
Reconciliation is typically performed by accounting personnel independent of the count team and pit department. The main bank cashier or cage supervisor independently recounts all currency and coupons presented by the count team before accepting them.
