Chief Compliance Officer (CCO)

Executive / Corporate

The senior executive responsible for ensuring the casino’s operations comply with all applicable gaming regulations, anti-money laundering (AML) laws, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), responsible gaming requirements, and internal control standards. The CCO designs, implements, and monitors compliance programs, serves as the liaison with gaming regulators and FinCEN, and oversees the filing of Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs). The CCO typically reports to the CEO or General Counsel and has direct access to the board of directors.

In practice

Under U.S. federal law, casinos are required to designate a compliance officer. In Macau, the CCO function has become increasingly critical following the 2022 Gaming Law reforms.
