Credit Line / Marker
Comps & Incentives
A pre-approved amount of gaming credit extended to a qualified player, allowing them to draw chips at the table (via a “marker”) without immediate cash deposit. Credit lines are established through a formal application process including financial verification, banking references, and credit checks. The availability of credit significantly increases player convenience and theoretical win potential by removing banking friction and enabling longer sessions. Credit extension and collection is a specialized function involving casino credit departments, cage operations, and sometimes external collection agencies. Gaming debts are legally enforceable in Nevada but unenforceable in many other jurisdictions including mainland China.
In practice
In Macau, credit extension was historically a core junket function—junket operators extended credit to mainland Chinese players and handled debt collection informally. Under Macau’s 2024 gaming law reforms, credit extension is now restricted to casino concessionaires only.
