Dual-Rate

Organizational Structure

An employment arrangement in which an employee is authorized to perform duties at two different levels within the same department, typically moving between a lower-level position (such as dealer) and a supervisory position (such as floor supervisor) on different days or shifts. Dual-rate arrangements serve as training and evaluation mechanisms, allowing employees to develop skills for promotion while the property assesses their capability. Gaming regulations require that dual-rate employees display the badge appropriate to the position they are currently performing and that their position be documented.

In practice

Missouri Gaming Commission regulations (11 CSR 45) define dual-rate as “when an employee of a lower level within the same department moves up one level to perform the duties of his/her supervisor’s position.” Once an employee has dual-rated to a higher position, they must remain in that position for the entire workday.
