Tip Pool / Pooling

Organizational Structure

A system in which all tips or tokes received by a group of employees are collected into a common pool and distributed equally among all members of the group, typically based on hours worked. In most casinos, table games dealers pool their tokes, which are collected, counted, and distributed on a regular schedule (daily, weekly, or bi-weekly). Casino management generally prefers tip pooling because it provides scheduling flexibility, standardizes accounting, and prevents disputes over lucrative shifts or tables.

In practice

Some properties have adopted hybrid systems where dealers keep a portion of their personal tips and pool the remainder. Poker dealers typically keep their own tips rather than pooling, as poker tips are more directly tied to individual dealer performance.
