Part IV: People & Technology · Casino Personnel & Organizational Hierarchy
Revenue Department
Organizational Structure
A casino department that directly generates gaming revenue from player wagering activity. The primary revenue departments are table games (including poker) and slot machines, which together produce virtually all gaming revenue. Marketing and player development are sometimes considered revenue departments due to their direct impact on generating player visits and gaming activity. Revenue departments are profit centers measured by metrics including drop, win, hold percentage, and theoretical vs. actual win.
In practice
The organizational separation between revenue and service departments is a fundamental principle of casino internal controls. For example, count team members must be from service departments (not revenue departments) to maintain the independence of the revenue verification process.
