Risk-Based Approach (RBA)

Compliance

An AML compliance methodology that directs casinos to allocate their compliance resources proportionally to the level of identified risk. Rather than applying the same level of scrutiny to all customers and transactions, a risk-based approach allows casinos to focus enhanced controls on high-risk areas while simplifying procedures for low-risk relationships. The RBA requires casinos to categorize players into low, medium, and high-risk groups based on factors such as transaction volume, betting behavior, geographic origin, and customer characteristics, and to apply differentiated controls accordingly.
