Slot Technician / Slot Mechanic
Slot Department
The technical specialist responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and software management of all slot machines and electronic gaming devices. Slot Technicians perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and electronic failures, replace faulty components, install new machines, configure game settings and denominations according to management directives, handle software updates and EPROM changes, verify machine meters, and assist with jackpot verification. They may also work on progressive jackpot systems, player tracking systems, and server-based gaming infrastructure.
In practice
Modern slot technicians require knowledge of electronics, computer networking, and gaming software. Some properties distinguish between “floor technicians” (handling field repairs) and “bench technicians” (performing detailed repairs in a workshop).
