Stickman / Stickperson

Dealers / Craps Crew

The craps crew member who stands at the center of the table opposite the Boxman, using a long flexible stick (also called a “mop” or “whip”) to retrieve, control, and deliver the dice to shooters after each roll. The Stickman announces the result of each roll, manages all proposition bets in the center of the layout (hardways, horn bets, craps/eleven, field bets), and creates excitement to encourage betting action. The Stickman must maintain constant visual contact with the dice, ensure fair rolls, and communicate clearly with base dealers on payoff instructions.

In practice

The Stickman is considered the most challenging dealing position due to the complexity of proposition bet payoffs and the need to manage up to 16 players simultaneously. In some jurisdictions, the stickman also functions as a supervisory observer for the side of the table where the dice land.
