Theo (Theoretical Win / Theoretical Loss)

Player Tracking & Rating

The statistically expected amount the casino will win from a player over a given period, calculated as: Average Bet × Decisions per Hour × Hours Played × House Edge. Theo represents the fundamental valuation metric for player development—it is what the casino “should” win based on mathematical probability, regardless of actual short-term results. The formula for theoretical revenue is: Theo = Total Wagers × House Edge. The casino uses theo to determine comp levels, marketing offers, and host assignments. A player may experience significant actual wins or losses, but their theo remains the primary basis for reinvestment decisions.

In practice

Also referred to as “Theoretical” or “T-Win.” For table games, operators typically use estimated house edge (often ~1.75% for blackjack) and estimated rounds per hour due to limitations in precise data collection.
