Part III: Business & Regulation · Casino Marketing & Player Management
Tier Points / Tier Credits
Player Tracking & Rating
Loyalty program currency earned by players based on their gaming activity (and sometimes non-gaming spending), which determines their membership tier or status level within the casino’s loyalty program. Tier points are distinct from comp points—tier points measure status qualification (how much a player has played), while comp points measure redeemable rewards (what the player has earned). Higher tier levels unlock enhanced benefits such as priority lines, complimentary parking, room upgrades, dedicated hosts, and exclusive event access. Tier point accumulation is typically based on theoretical win or coin-in, with higher-tier games (slots versus table games) earning points at different rates.
In practice
Major loyalty programs (Caesars Rewards, MGM Rewards, etc.) use tier credits as the primary status-determining metric, with annual earning requirements that reset each calendar year.
