Ball Tripping (Roulette)
How it works
A method of prematurely dislodging the roulette ball from its track so that it settles into a desired section of the wheelhead. Can be executed by cheaters or dishonest casinos. A spring-loaded pin or lever under the table edge is connected to a control mechanism. When activated, the pin projects slightly into the ball track, tripping the ball and forcing it to fall into a specific sector. Dealers can also use hidden levers under table edges.

Ball tripping has been documented in illegal gambling halls and jurisdictions with weak gaming control oversight. Nevada and New Jersey regulatory inspections have largely eliminated this threat in legal U.S. casinos.
