Burn Card
Other Table GamesREPORTED
A card removed from the top of the deck or shoe and placed face-down in the discard tray without being revealed to any player. Burn cards are standard procedure in many table games including Casino War (where three cards are burned before dealing war cards after a tie), baccarat, and blackjack. The purpose of burn cards is to prevent players from gaining an advantage by seeing the top card of the deck. In Casino War specifically, the dealer burns three cards before dealing the player and dealer their war cards after a tie hand.
