1.10 SJM Holdings (Sociedade de Jogos de Macau)
Macau — Corporate
SJM Holdings is one of Macau’s six gaming concessionaires and the successor to Stanley Ho’s Sociedade de Turismo e Diversoes de Macau (STDM). Founded in 2002 when the gaming monopoly ended, SJM operates casino properties including the iconic Grand Lisboa on the Macau Peninsula and the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort on Cotai. SJM held a 13.1% share of Macau GGR in 2024. The company was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2008 and secured a new 10-year gaming concession in 2022 valid through 2032.
In practice
SJM was the largest operator in Macau by market share immediately after liberalization, controlling roughly two-thirds of the market. Its dominance has eroded with the entry of U.S. operators but it remains a significant player, especially on the Macau Peninsula.
