1.15 MGM China / MGM Grand Paradise

Macau — Corporate

MGM China is the Macau joint venture between MGM Resorts International (49%) and Pansy Ho (51%), daughter of Stanley Ho, operating as MGM Grand Paradise. MGM entered Macau through a sub-concession from SJM Holdings in 2005. The company operates MGM Macau on the Macau Peninsula and MGM Cotai on the Cotai Strip, and secured a new 10-year concession in 2022. MGM China has focused on both premium mass and VIP segments while navigating complex regulatory requirements.

In practice

MGM’s entry into Macau required approval from multiple U.S. state gaming regulators who scrutinized Pansy Ho’s relationship with her father Stanley Ho, given allegations of his organized crime associations.
