19. Main Bank

Cash Handling

The main bank is the primary cash reserve within the casino cage where the largest volume of currency and cash equivalents are stored and managed. The main bank cashier (or senior cage supervisor) oversees the main bank operations, including preparing fills and credits for the gaming floor, receiving and processing drop proceeds from the count room, maintaining the imprest bank inventory, and coordinating with the vault for excess cash deposits or withdrawals. The main bank maintains the “bank roll” — the total cash on hand needed to support daily operations. All transfers between the main bank and other departments (count room, vault, individual cashier windows) require dual signatures and detailed documentation.

In practice

In some jurisdictions, the main bank cashier must independently recount and verify all count room drop totals before accepting them, providing a critical secondary control.
