21. Window (Cage Window)

Cash Handling

A cage window is an individual service station within the casino cage where cashiers conduct face-to-face transactions with patrons. Each window is equipped with a cash drawer, currency counter, computer terminal connected to the casino management system, chip storage, and communication equipment. Windows are numbered for identification and accountability purposes. Cashiers at each window are responsible for their individual cash drawer balance, which is reconciled at the beginning and end of each shift. Multiple transaction logs (MTLs) are typically maintained at each window to record transactions that approach CTR reporting thresholds.

In practice

High-limit rooms often have dedicated windows for VIP transactions. Some modern casinos have replaced or supplemented traditional windows with self-service kiosks for routine transactions.
