Banco
Baccarat
Spanish for “banker,” this refers to the banker hand in baccarat — one of the two primary betting positions in the game. The banco hand has a slight statistical advantage over the player hand, which is why a 5% commission is charged on winning banker bets. In some regional variants, a player at the table may assume the role of the banker.
In practice
In Chemin de Fer, the banco role rotates among players, who must cover all bets placed against them.
