Part IV: People & Technology · Casino Personnel & Organizational Hierarchy

Count Room Supervisor / Count Team Supervisor

Cage / Vault

The key employee who oversees the soft count and hard count processes – the systematic opening, counting, and recording of all cash and tokens collected from table games drop boxes and slot machine cash storage containers. The Count Room Supervisor ensures regulatory compliance during the count process (including wearing pocketless garments, hand exposure requirements, and surveillance recording), manages the count team, investigates discrepancies, signs off on count documentation, and delivers count results to accounting and the cage.

In practice

Count room procedures are among the most heavily regulated activities in casino operations. Most jurisdictions require a minimum of three count team members present throughout the count, with continuous audio-video recording. The Count Room Supervisor must be independent of the revenue-generating departments whose drop they are counting.
