Count Team Member
Cage / Vault
An employee who participates in the count process, working under the Count Room Supervisor to open drop boxes or slot cash containers, count currency and wagering instruments, record totals, and prepare count documentation. Count team members must follow strict procedural controls including pocketless garments, hand exposure protocols, and limited access restrictions. They are typically drawn from cage, accounting, or audit departments and must be independent of the gaming floor operations generating the revenue being counted.
In practice
Count team members are selected from departments independent of the revenue source being counted to maintain the integrity of the count process. Some jurisdictions require count team members from at least three different departments when accessing stored drop boxes.
