Player Tracking & Rating

The physical or digital instrument through which a casino identifies, tracks, and rewards an individual patron’s gaming and non-gaming activity. The player card encodes a unique account number that links to the casino’s player tracking system, enabling recording of slot coin-in and coin-out, table game ratings, point accrual, and comp redemption. Issuance of a player card represents the casino’s primary mechanism for converting anonymous walk-in traffic into identifiable, marketable rated players. Digital player cards (mobile app-based) are increasingly replacing physical cards.

In practice

Carded play rates (percentage of total gaming volume captured through player cards) are a critical operational KPI, particularly for slot machines where tracking is automatic. Table game card usage remains a persistent operational challenge.
