Squeeze

Baccarat

The ceremonial slow reveal of cards practiced in Midi and VIP baccarat, particularly in Asian markets. The player with the highest wager on a given side slowly peels back the corner of their cards to reveal the value, building dramatic tension. This ritual is a significant part of baccarat culture and can dramatically slow down the game.

In practice

Surveillance must monitor the squeeze process closely, as card exposure during the squeeze can create edge-sorting vulnerabilities or opportunities for marking. Some casinos now use pre-shuffled cards or card covers to minimize exposure.
