Part III: Business & Regulation · Gaming Regulation & Compliance
VIP Room / Premium Room
Legal
A private or semi-private gaming area within a casino designated for high-stakes play by VIP or premium players, typically operated in partnership with gaming promoters (junkets) or directly by the casino operator. VIP rooms offer higher betting limits, private facilities, dedicated staff, and personalized services. Under Macau’s 2022/2023 regulatory reforms, gaming promoters are no longer permitted to independently operate VIP rooms, a change that fundamentally altered the junket business model. Casino operators now predominantly operate “company-run VIP rooms” directly, rather than through junket intermediaries.
