Voluntary Exclusion

A formal agreement between a patron and a casino (or gaming regulatory authority) in which the patron voluntarily agrees to be excluded from gambling premises and activities. Voluntary exclusion programs typically require the individual to submit a written request, provide identification, and select an exclusion period. Once enrolled, the casino must take reasonable steps to prevent the individual from gambling and may be required to forfeit any winnings if they do so. Many jurisdictions maintain a centralized voluntary exclusion database that applies across all licensed gaming establishments in the jurisdiction.
