Extra Board Dealer / Part-Time Dealer
Dealers
A dealer who is not guaranteed full-time hours and works on an as-needed basis, filling gaps in the schedule, covering call-outs, and working peak periods. Extra board dealers (also called “part-time” or “on-call” dealers) typically receive no benefits, have lower priority for shift selection, and may work anywhere from one to six or seven days per week depending on property needs. The extra board serves as the traditional entry point to full-time dealer positions.
In practice
Depending on the property, extra board dealers may wait six months to three years before being offered full-time status. Extra board dealers are critical for operational flexibility but often receive the least desirable shifts.
