Petite / La Petite
Baccarat
French for “the little one,” referring to a natural 8 — the second-best hand in baccarat. A natural 8 wins against all player totals except a natural 8 or 9 from the opposing hand. If both hands show natural 8s, the result is a tie. La Petite automatically stands; no third card can be drawn.
In practice
In some European casinos, a natural 8 pays enhanced odds of 2:1, though this is rare in modern play.
