Manager on Duty (MOD)

Pit and Floor Management

The designated senior manager who holds overall property authority during a specific shift or time period, responsible for coordinating all departments and making executive decisions in the absence of the General Manager or other senior executives. The MOD responds to emergencies, authorizes exception transactions, mediates serious guest disputes, and serves as the incident commander for critical situations. In gaming operations, the MOD is often a Shift Manager or Casino Manager who has been designated with cross-departmental authority.

In practice

The MOD is a functional designation rather than a permanent title. Multiple MODs may rotate through a 24-hour cycle. At smaller properties, a Manager-level employee may serve as MOD rather than a Director or VP.
