Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)

The senior officer designated to oversee all AML/CFT activities within a casino or gaming operator, commonly used terminology in jurisdictions outside the United States (particularly in Europe and Asia-Pacific). The MLRO is responsible for ensuring the institution’s compliance with AML/CFT laws and regulations, reviewing and approving suspicious activity reports, liaising with regulatory authorities and Financial Intelligence Units, and reporting to senior management and the board on AML/CFT matters. The MLRO must have sufficient seniority, independence, and access to resources to perform these functions effectively.
